Quickstart

Improve selected text in three steps with the global hotkey.

typo runs in the background on a global hotkey so you can refine text without leaving your editor or browser.

Basic flow

  1. Select the text you want to improve.
  2. Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + X to activate typo.
  3. Wait for the AI response; it replaces the selection automatically.

Global hotkey

Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + X in any app β€” browser, editor, or chat. On Wayland, bind a system shortcut to typo --selection instead; see FAQ β€” Linux Wayland compatibility.

How it works

  1. Capture β€” Reads the current selection.
  2. AI processing β€” Sends text with your prompt (configurable in Settings) to the model.
  3. Replacement β€” Copies the response to the clipboard and pastes at the cursor (avoids many input-method issues).

Models in use

  • Configured cloud models such as DeepSeek.
  • Local Ollama β€” ensure ollama serve is running.

Customize behavior

Tune the default system prompt in Settings, or configure slash prompts for tasks like translation or tone changes.
